Hey girl, my name is Letisha.
Just a Tennessee girl who married an offshore oilfield man, has two handsome boys, and one naked cat.
I am a taco connoisseur who’s always on the hunt for the perfect margarita. Rock-n-roll soothes my soul but so does long walks down a Target aisle sippin’ on Starbs. When I’m not being totally #basic you can find me hiking a trail or kayaking a river somewhere.
My personal fitness journey started in 2014. Well, let’s be real… I’ve been on a journey to losing weight since I can remember. But the REAL journey started in the summer of 2014 just after the birth of my second son. I had reached 230 lbs before refusing to step on a scale.
Before we go into that, I think you need to know a little history about me.
I am no stranger to being overweight or obese, this has been my life story. At the young age of 12 I started “dieting” and taking diet pills. At the age of 14 I began my battle with bulimia - which I struggled with heavily for more than a decade. At the age of 23 I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) which just added to my fight to becoming healthy and fit.
At the time I wasn’t sure what this diagnosis meant, but I knew that it made losing weight feel impossible. I was convinced that being overweight was my fate. I tried it all. Seriously. I counted the points, took all the fat loss pills, went to the doctors, tried the pre-made meals, ate the 100 calorie snacks, did one diet after another, joined gyms, and fell for every gimmick out there. I would lose a little and then gain a lot. I became overwhelmed with what is right, what is wrong, then became so discouraged that I was failing over and over again, and ultimately just got tired of it all. I gave up for a while.
This was until the summer of 2014. I knew that I wanted to lose weight for good this time. I needed a true lifestyle change.
I became realistic in my understanding that this would take work and most of all, it was going to take time. I started small. My nutrition became real food, getting rid of the processed food and fast foods that was then bulk of my diet. My workouts were simply walking at the park, and girl, that was HARD for me. I will never forget how I would need my inhaler just to be able to walk!
This added fuel to my determined fire. Gradually the pounds came off, I became stronger, and started reaching my goals. With every goal met, I would set another and keep reaching.
Years later I am still overcoming hard things and chasing dreams.
I’ve accomplished things I never imagined possible, like trying Crossfit and also stepping on stage as a competitive bodybuilder. I also faced battles that I didn’t see coming. Battles with my PCOS, and metabolic resistance, causing a plethora of symptoms with several hormonal imbalances to back them up. This felt like a major setback to me but ultimately it became my inspiration. Through my own healing I began learning more about nutrition and my body that it made me think “women aren’t being told any of this” So I want to be that light for you. That is when I changed my career and became a Certified Holistic Nutrition & Weight Loss Coach. My journey, my struggles, and my successes keep me inspired to empower women like you to take back their power and change your life. I am now living the life I used to wish for, I know you can do the same.
